In previous years, gifts were hand-delivered to guests’ staterooms, either awaiting them on embarkation day or as a nice surprise during the sailing. The switch to having guests pick up gifts was made as part of health and safety protocols as cruising resumed after the industry shutdown, in order to minimize how many people entered different staterooms in case of illness. “Next up after this will be the Tote Bag with the same Logo,” Heald said. In time, loyalty guests may have the ability to choose which of the gifts they receive on each sailing, though this has not been confirmed.

We’re ok with the cruise line taking a little extra time to make sure they get it right. Such "forever status" is one of the great allures of cruise line frequent cruiser programs. Most airline frequent flyer programs, by contrast, require loyalty members to requalify for status each year.
Carnival Cruise VIFP Status loyalty program (
Even at the highest Diamond level of its VIFP Club program, Carnival still is a little stingy with the perks. Unlike Royal Caribbean and some other lines, for instance, it doesn't give members a free cruise upon reaching this pinnacle of loyalty status. That said, Diamond status does bring a few nice privileges.
What Are the VIFP Club Benefits?
Guests with fewer than 25 VIFP Points were placed in the new Red level. Those who have earned VIFP Points were placed in the Gold level. The best part of the VIFP Club is that it's free to join, and even first-time Carnival cruisers reap some rewards.
In addition to the VIFP Club newsletter and special offers, you’ll receive a complimentary 1-liter bottle of water that you can pick up from any bar on the ship. Cruise Hive was established back in 2008 and among the earliest blogs in the industry. Since the start, it's been our aim to provide the latest cruise news covering all the major cruise lines.
Carnival Cruise Line removes benefits for the Maiden Voyage of Carnival Venezia - Travel And Tour World
Carnival Cruise Line removes benefits for the Maiden Voyage of Carnival Venezia.
More and more, we’ve seen Carnival limit the benefits to Platinum and Diamond cruisers as the cruise operator struggles to deliver based on the number of loyal cruisers on board. It’s really apparent with new ship launches, Journeys Cruises, and unique sailings, however, even on standard sailings, the Platinum/Diamond line for guest services sometimes is just as long as the standard line. Unlike rival Royal Caribbean, Carnival's VIFP Club loyalty program doesn't offer its members a free cruise after reaching the top tier. There are no 20% discounts on some sailings, as Windstar Cruises offers to its loyalty program members. While Carnival Corporation owns and operates other cruise lines, VIFP Club points and benefits are not reciprocal to Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, or any other cruise brand in the portfolio.
I'm cruising with friends/my spouse, and we're at different loyalty tiers. Can perks be shared?
So if you sailed a seven-day cruise last summer and have a five-day cruise booked for next year, then you will only have seven points as a member, not 12. You earn one point every day you cruise on a Carnival cruise ship. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cozy 5-day Caribbean adventure or an epic 7-day Alaskan exploration, each day you’re aboard adds to your point tally. We definitely appreciate the free cabin upgrade (or third-and-fourth passengers sail free offer) that comes with first reaching Diamond status, although we're disappointed this is a one-time-only benefit. Another good, but one-time-only perk of Diamond status is a complimentary meal for two at a specialty restaurant of your choice.
What kind of cruise deals will I receive with the VIFP Program?
Gold Members have between 25 and 74 points, while Platinum Members have between 75 and 199. There’s almost as much speculation about what happens to existing VIFP Club members as there is about changes to the program! When Carnival announced changes to the VIFP Club in 2012, they gave cruisers until the end of 2013 to achieve status within the then current framework. Even if you’ve never cruised with Carnival before, join the club today — the benefits begin today. Getting to the Platinum tier takes 10 cruises, assuming you always sail seven-night voyages. You earn one point for every day you cruise on a Carnival ship.
So if you earn 25 points within the program but then don’t sail for a few years, you’ll still have the same point level and status as before. This is different than loyalty programs like with airlines where the points you earn often “drop off” after a length of time. If you’ve earned Gold status, then you don’t have to worry about being dropped back to Red status just because you don’t sail for a while. When it comes to perks, Carnival's loyalty program isn't as robust as the programs at some rival lines.
Whether you a sailing in an interior cabin or a top-of-the-line suite, they both earn you one point per day for your VIFP status. Starting with your second cruise and up to 24 points, you’ll be on the Red tier. This provides the same email benefits as Blue, plus a complimentary 1.5 liter bottle of water on the ship. As you move higher in the program’s ranks, your benefits and privileges will improve. The color of your Sail & Sign card will reflect the tier that you’re on.
Here's everything you need to know about the Carnival VIFP Club including how to become a member, how to earn points, and the benefits. The Blue tier doesn’t have many perks worth getting excited about. Each tier has a color represented as the background of your Sail & Sign card. Note that all information contained in this article is updated as of September 2022. Per Carnival's webpage, "Carnival Cruise Line® reserves the right to change terms/benefits [of the VIFP Program] at any time." You’ll receive a Gold VIFP pin on every cruise in addition to the Red benefits.
You can get a detailed look at the VIFP program and unique perks here. You’ll be able to access VIP lounges, priority terminal access, priority Captain’s Lounge entry, and even free drinks at cocktail receptions and VIP parties. Before you book your first Carnival cruise, visit the Carnival VIFP Club website and click the ‘Join’ button. Provide your email address and create a password, and you’re in.
One of the nice little surprises of Carnival's loyalty program is that you hit the first tier level, Blue, the moment you walk on board your first cruise with the brand. Unlike many lines, you don't have to complete a cruise to get to the first level. In fact, you can get to the Blue tier even before taking a cruise. When you initially sign up for the VIFP Club, you’ll be known as a “Blue Card,” a first-time Carnival cruiser.
At its highest tier, it doesn't bring anything close to the free cruise that some other lines offer to top-tier customers, or onboard perks like free drinks daily in a private lounge. It won't get you across-the-board discounts on cruises, shore excursions and beverage packages, as some lines offer higher-tier members. But it does bring some worthwhile perks at higher levels, and it's relatively easy to rise through the tiers of the program.
Details are provided on invitations for each of the functions. Will guests automatically receive recognition/benefits? VIFP Club members will automatically move from one level to the next level based on their VIFP Points and will receive the benefits of their level on each sailing. Please note that ‘debarkation day’ is not considered a ‘cruise day’, therefore, points are not earned for that day. I activated my account but noticed that all of my cruises were not included. Alcohol in checked luggage will be confiscated and not returned. If you’ve sailed on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, or any other major cruise line, you’re probably familiar with alcohol packages. Passengers pay a set rate per day – usually about $55 – for as many alcoholic drinks and soft drinks as they care to have. Compared to most cruise lines that allow guests to bring only a small amount of wine with them upon embarkation only, Disney's alcohol policy for guests is generous.

If you only have a couple of hours before you board the ship, youstill have plenty of time to head over to the Queen Mary and check out theexhibits, and even grab a bite to eat. For most carsthis won’t be a problem, but for those arriving in an RV you may need to usethe adjacent outdoor parking lot. Unfortunately, you can’t call in to reserve a parking space ahead of time.Parking in the terminal is first come, first serve. It might be a good idea toarrive early to make sure you have a spot if you’re worried about that.
This historic ship is permanently docked nearby and has been transformed into a floating hotel, museum, and entertainment venue. Visitors can explore the Queen Mary’s rich history, dine in its onboard restaurants, and even spend the night in one of its luxurious staterooms. The Long Beach Cruise Terminal is located in the Los Angeles area and enjoys warm weather all year, which makes any time a great time to visit. Late summer is especially suitable for beach visits, when the water is spectacularly warm. Keep in mind that the smog tends to be thickest during the summer months, and the autumn and winter can be a bit nippy due to the Santa Ana winds.
By comparing the parking prices and amenities offered by different off-site lots, you can find the best option that suits your budget and preferences. Remember to book your parking in advance to ensure availability and a seamless experience on the day of your cruise departure. If you choose to park on-site, it’s recommended to arrive early in order to secure a parking space, especially during peak travel seasons. The parking facility operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and spaces can fill up quickly. Since the Port of Long Beach has a large and secure parking structure, the most convenient parking option is to simply leave the vehicle in the on-site parking area.
With careful planning and attention to details, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing that your vehicle is parked securely while you embark on a memorable cruise adventure. Many popular cruise lines, including Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises, operate out of the Port of Long Beach. Whether you’re embarking on a short getaway to Mexico or a longer voyage to Hawaii, the port offers a wide range of itineraries to choose from. While the primary focus of the port is cargo operations, it has dedicated areas for cruise ships. The Long Beach Cruise Terminal, located near downtown Long Beach, is where most cruise ships dock.
